As detailed by Regulation 4E(2) of The Firefighters’ Pension Scheme (Amendment) (Governance) Regulations 2015, one of the primary functions of Firefighters’ Pension Scheme Advisory Board is to:
- provide advice to scheme mangers and local pension boards in relation to the effective and efficient administration and management of this scheme and any connected scheme.
In order to achieve this, the Board "shall have the power to do anything which is calculated to facilitate, or is conducive or incidental to, the discharge of any of its functions" [4E(5)], which may include from time to time, the invitation of bids from interested parties to provide professional commissions of, for example, a legal or actuarial nature.
This page contains details of any such invitations issued.
Legal adviser to the SAB
In support of the Board's work plan it is seeking to appoint a Legal Firm as adviser to the board under [4F(4)] to inform the board on legal issues relating to firefighters pensions, and to provide advice on particular matters that may arise from time to time.
Four legal firms have been approached directly for bids and the Board secretariat would also be interested to receive bids from any relevant parties. Organisations interested in bidding should download the "Instructions for Bidders" document below.
